The Way We Live Now

Achieving Techno-Literacy

Most of this article makes a lot of sense. Education through K-12 is defiantly a lot more about child rearing then knowledge education. Children do learn easy skills that they need for later but most of the skills learned at the level are skills used latter to learn real ideas later in life. In a way I am also jealous of that child. He was exposed to several ideas and concepts that I did not understand at his age. The fact that he realized that he had to teach himself some concepts was something I did not understand until I was in 12th grade. But in way I feel bad for this child, mainly because being home schooled prevents a child from forming the bonds that will carry him or her into high school.
