Your Brain on Computers Deprive Brain Of Needed Downtime

Technology has its good and bad aspects.  Stimulation keeps our minds awake. It keeps us attentive and paying attention. But our brain needs a rest, just like any machine. We need down time so that we can rest and recover over time. Sleep does provide some downtime but the more exposure we have the more we need. The ideas presented about running are also valid. Running in a gym vs. running in nature are vastly different. At the gym the mind is never restful. It is being constantly stimulated by everything that is occurring, be it a person walking by to the TV. But when a person is to run in nature, their mind can be lost to focus on the one aspect of running. The mind can be turned off so that the only thing occurring within the runner is the focus of running.
